Product Information

  • Stock Status: In Stock

Acebutolol (Sectral) is a cardioselective beta-1 blocker used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension), relieve chest pain due to angina, and treat certain heart rhythm disorders (ventricular arrhythmias). It reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand, helping improve symptoms and reduce cardiovascular risk when used as directed by a physician.

  • Cardioselective beta-1 blocker — targets the heart to reduce heart rate and blood pressure
  • Useful for hypertension, chronic stable angina, and ventricular arrhythmias
  • Improves exercise tolerance and controls symptoms of palpitations and rapid heartbeat
  • Available in oral tablet form for convenient once- or twice-daily dosing

Safety & important information: Do not stop acebutolol suddenly — gradual dose reduction under medical supervision is required to avoid worsening angina or precipitating arrhythmias. Inform your prescriber about asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart block, severe peripheral vascular disease, or current pregnancy/breastfeeding. This is a prescription-only medicine.

Generic Name acebutolol

Driving AlertWhile taking beta-blockers, patients with a history of severe anaphylactic reaction to a variety of allergens may be more reactive to repeated challenge, either accidental, diagnostic, or therapeutic.
Liver AlertCatecholamine-depleting drugs, such as reserpine, may have an additive effect when given with β-blocking agents. Patients treated with Sectral plus catecholamine depletors should, therefore, be observed closely for evidence of marked bradycardia or hypotension which may present as vertigo, syncope/presyncope, or orthostatic changes in blood pressure without compensatory tachycardia.
